Active members of the communities they serve, Stantec always designs with community in mind.
The Stantec community unites more than 15,000 employees working in over 250 locations. They collaborate across disciplines and industries to bring buildings, energy and resource, and infrastructure projects to life. Their work—professional consulting in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management, and project economics—begins at the intersection of community, creativity, and client relationships.
Since 1954, their local strength, knowledge, and relationships, coupled with their world-class expertise, have allowed them to go anywhere to meet their clients’ needs in more creative and personalized ways. With a long-term commitment to the people and places they serve, Stantec has the unique ability to connect to projects on a personal level and advance the quality of life in communities across the globe.
The local office, which opened in downtown Winnipeg in June 2015, won the Corporate Community Champion Award at our AGM last November. Stantec celebrates sustainability by having a car share and bike share program for its employees, and being heavily involved in BIZ programs like the CEO Sleep Out and Downtown Cleanliness.
“When we brought our four Winnipeg offices together in one downtown location, we wanted to take the opportunity to re-examine how we operate, and look at where we can be a more sustainable and visible member of the business community,” says Eric Wiens, Stantec’s vice president for Manitoba. “We’ve been able to contribute to the downtown revitalization through our design work, and now our people will play a part in bringing vibrancy to the downtown community.”
Stantec provided architectural, engineering and interior services for the Centrepoint development. The building is designed to high environmental standards to accommodate the health and wellness of staff, visitors and tenants, as well as provide sustainable solutions for the building itself. Features include interior light wells to maximize daylight, low energy lighting, low consumption plumbing fixtures, energy efficient heat pumps, recycled and low volatile organic compounds materials, and sustainable green building materials.
