National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
September 30, 2023 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
We’re excited to offer a new tour on September 30, Truth and Reconciliation Through Art, as well as a tour of Tarralik Duffy: Gasoline Rainbows and Anaanatta Unikkaangit (Our Mother’s Stories).
Join us for presentations with special guests, including Reconciliation for Newcomers to Canada and How to Read Historical Canadian Artworks Through a Decolonizing Lens. There will be a conversation with WAG-Qaumajuq Director and CEO, Dr. Stephen Borys about his reconciliation journey, plus a Keynote Address from Senator Mary Jane McCallum.
This will also be the last day to participate in the Project of Heart workshop. Simply purchase a tile at our front desk (pay what you can, all profits will be donated to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation) and add your artistic touch! Tiles will be displayed in Eckhardt Hall.
We will also have a Space of Care in Niizhwaaso (boardroom on the second floor of Qaumajuq) where Red Tent will be present throughout the duration of the event. Red Tent is an organization that provides education and creates awareness about anti-oppression, safer spaces, and consent culture.
