  • 12:00 Noon – Student lunch at IMAX Theatre, 3rd Floor, Portage Place, Edmonton Court
  • 12:30pm – Presentation to students & IMAX film: Under the Sea 3D

New this year, 220 students will take part in a tour of Young Artists on the Avenue exhibits at 11am, prior to lunch at IMAX. The 45-minute tours start at Portage Place Shopping Centre.

“Young Artists on the Avenue puts student art on display for thousands of people downtown to see each day, providing a wonderful showcase for some of the great young talent in our city,” says Stefano Grande, Downtown BIZ executive director. “With our new tours, kids will get a chance to see not only their artwork on display, but several other schools’ creations, while also getting more comfortable with walking around downtown.”

Students’ artwork will adorn downtown windows, lobbies and storefronts until June 9. Locations are mainly along Portage Avenue from Spence to Main streets and can be seen from the street or in the indoor walkway system. Site locations include Investors Group’s foyer, the Canadian Western Bank and Don’s Photo, as well as indoor spaces like IMAX Theatre, the MTS Centre foyer and the Portage & Main Concourse.

Young Artists on the Avenue, one of the Downtown BIZ’s longest running programs, helps to increase public awareness of Manitoba’s artistic talent and to beautify our downtown streets.
