“We want to tap into Winnipeg’s creative musical community,” says Stefano Grande, Executive Director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “In 2013 alone, over 50 festivals took over the streets and venues in our downtown, attracting well over 900,000 people. Winnipeg is indeed a festival city and there’s no shortage of things to do and see. We’re confident that this new initiative will bring out the best local talent our city has to offer and the energy and excitement that Winnipeggers have been longing for.”

Downtown is Winnipeg’s premier entertainment destination hosting a mosaic of districts that are home to unique cultures. It is where history meets the present and where hundreds of thousands of people gather to experience what our city has to offer. Whether it is our thriving arts and theatre, a concert or sporting event or an evening submersed in our nightlife, visitors are always spending money at local businesses, enjoying a positive downtown experience that will keep them coming back for more.

“We are so pleased to be a part of this new series,” says Lynne Skromeda, Executive Director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. “Not only does it give a great opportunity for Winnipeggers to get a sneak peek at what’s happening at our festival this July, we get to partner on an exciting downtown initiative and be a part of the wonderful culture that makes it so much fun to be in Winnipeg in the summertime.”
