MANYFEST: DOWNTOWN’S BIGGEST STREET PARTY

VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY VENDORS WANTED

Downtown Winnipeg — Downtown Winnipeg’s biggest street party Manyfest: All Together Downtown, presented by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and Manitoba Lotteries – is set to take over Broadway, with an anticipated crowd of 30,000-plus people on September 7, 8 and 9 this year.

Each week leading up to this year’s Manyfest, the Downtown BIZ will reveal the event’s “new kids on the block” – as fresh and exciting activities have been added to the already dynamic roster of events. But until then, the BIZ is calling on the community for much needed support. Community vendors and volunteers of all backgrounds are needed to round off this year’s festivities!

“Last year, over 150 volunteers and dozens of community groups devoted their time and helped give back to the community by bringing excitement and enthusiasm to the event,” said Stefano Grande, Executive Director of the Downtown BIZ. “With so many new activities lined up at this year’s event, we need even more Winnipeggers to get involved to help Manyfest shine bigger and brighter!”

Anyone wanting to volunteer for the festival can visit: www.manyfest.volunteerhub.com. Vendors can participate by filling out a form online at www.manyfest.ca.

Manyfest is a festival for all ages and celebrates community, arts, entertainment and healthy living on the streets of downtown Winnipeg beneath Broadway’s beautifully lit canopy of elm trees, from Memorial Boulevard to Main Street. The three-day outdoor festival will feature a Giant Movie in the Park, Lights on Broadway, Wine Festival, Big Dance on Broadway, Farmers’ and Artisans’ Markets, Ciclovia, MiniFest Kids’ Zone, Zumbathon and the Winnipeg 10 & 10 Race – amongst an eclectic and multicultural backdrop of local talent, musicians, artists, and buskers.

Varying stretches of the north side of Broadway will be closed to vehicular traffic over the weekend, culminating in Ciclovia, when the street will flood with people from Main to Osborne, coming in by foot, bicycle and transit.

Manyfest is hosted by the Downtown BIZ and presented by title sponsor Manitoba Lotteries. Sponsors include the Independent Specialty Wine Stores of Manitoba, sponsor of the Taste of Downtown Wine and Cheese Festival; the Running Room and Investors Group, sponsors of the Winnipeg 10 + 10 Race; the Winnipeg Arts Council, sponsor of the Big Dance on Broadway; Mountain Equipment Coop and RBC Blue Water, sponsors of Ciclovia; and Portage Place, sponsor of the Minifest Kids’ Zone. Other partners and sponsors include the City of Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba, MPIC, CentreVenture, Neptune Properties, Assiniboine Credit Union, East India Company, Lawton Partners, and more to come!
