Title:Manager, Events and Sponsorship
Position Summary:Under the direction of the Executive Director the individual will be responsible for the tasks as described herein. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications.
Work Hours:Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. Evening or weekend work for events or meetings will be required.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
•Lead the planning, execution and evaluation of events and festivals in the downtown. This shall include: sitting on committees, providing information, meeting with promoters, assessing the impact on the downtown, determining the BIZ role and support, and facilitating information flow to businesses. (All committee involvement as per Executive Director prior approval)
•Manage BIZ promotions, programs and events as identified in the BIZ strategic plan including but not limited to: prizes, sponsorships and overall event management. Events include but are not limited to: Canada Day Living Flag, Manyfest, Farmers’ Market, Yoga/Zumba in the Park, and Movies on Memorial.
•Establish one new event annually.
•Coordinate BIZ involvement with independent contractors hired to manage special projects as required.
•Assist BIZ staff with programs, events and promotions as needed.
•Attend events, representing the BIZ as may be required.
•Seek and obtain sponsorships for downtown events, festivals and promotions as required.
•Prepare grants to support current events and grow future opportunities.
•Provide advice and expertise related to sponsorship for other departments.
•Provide leadership, direction, motivation and support to all Event Department staff and volunteers.
•Manage Events budget and report as required to Marketing & Events Committee and Board.
•Other duties as may be assigned.
