Job Description

Title: Events Co-ordinator
Term Position June 2013- September 13, 2013

Position Summary:Under the direction of the Executive Director the individual will be responsible for the tasks as described herein. The position will report to the Manager, Communications and Marketing.

Work Hours:Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. Evening or weekend work for events or meetings will be required.

Rate of Pay:$19.00 per hour

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Events & Promotions

•Encourage the establishment and facilitate in the coordination of festivals and events in the downtown. This shall include: sitting on committees, providing information, meeting with promoters, assessing the impact on the downtown, determining the BIZ role and support, and facilitating information flow to businesses. (All committee involvement as per Executive Director prior approval)
•Seek and obtain sponsorships for events and promotions as required.
•Coordinate BIZ promotions, programs and events as identified in the BIZ strategic plan (major national events, Living Flag, Ciclovia, Manyfest, Santa Claus Parade, Spirit Week, Downtown Living Tours, etc.) including but not limited to: promotion, prizes, sponsorships and overall event management.
•Coordinate BIZ involvement with independent contractors hired to manage special projects as required.
•When required, work with the City of Winnipeg to act as a liaison for businesses to facilitate film and entertainment companies conducting activities in the downtown.
•Assist BIZ staff with programs, events and promotions as needed.
•Attend events, representing the BIZ as may be required.
•Other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
