FREE IN FOR LUNCH CONCERT SERIES KICKS OFF 10th ANNIVERSARY FRIDAY, JANUARY 30 WITH “TWILIGHT HOTEL” AT PORTAGE PLACE
WINNIPEG—Downtowners are invited to enjoy free lunchtime concerts on Fridays, as the In for Lunch concert series returns to the city centre on Friday, January 30 at noon with the band Twilight Hotel at Portage Place.
The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s tenth annual In for Lunch concert series runs on Fridays from noon to 1:00 p.m. until March 27. Concerts are located at Portage Place shopping centre, with new locations at the University of Winnipeg’s Riddell Atrium and the big series wind-up at the historic VIA Rail Union Station.
Twilight Hotel’s Brandy Zdan and Dave Quanbury will entertain downtown workers, residents, students and visitors with their roots americana sounds.
“In 2008, Twilight Hotel teamed up with Colin Linden to produce Highway Prayer (WCMA Outstanding Roots Album Duo/Group), which continues the duo’s provocative love story showcasing their characteristic dark twang and noir cabaret all the while centered around their rich harmonies. Recorded in Nashville, TN, Highway Prayer features prolific guest musicians including the late Richard Bell (Janis Joplin, The Band), Stephen Hodges (Tom Waits), and Dave Roe (Johnny Cash).”
The eclectic entertainment features a variety of music by local performers. All are welcome to bring their lunch and beat the winter blahs to the beat of great tunes. Tables and chairs provided.
