FREE STREET PARTY LIVENS UP EDMONTON STREET IN AUGUST
Downtown Winnipeg – Winnipeggers’ undeniable love for good street parties continues on as Edmonton Street will come alive with an eclectic and multicultural backdrop of local talent, musicians, artists, and buskers. Intrigued? With the Fringe Festival, Jazz Festival, and the Winnipeg Folk Festival all packed up for another go in 2013, the Downtown BIZ’s Edmonton Street Festival encourages downtown office workers, residents and all of Winnipeg to come and enjoy live art, a merchant market, and dynamic entertainment in August this year.
Edmonton Street will be closed between Portage and Graham for an extended lunch-hour street festival from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, featuring:
August 22: Zenobia and He Said She Said
August 29: Au Set Bellydance Emporium and Suzanne Mariani
“This is a wonderful festival for our downtown and one that celebrates some of our most iconic thoroughfares, Portage Avenue and Edmonton Street,” says Stefano Grande, Downtown BIZ Executive Director. “It’s another great event that attracts people downtown for a unique experience. We’re hoping Winnipeggers will come out to explore the wonderful array of local shopping, dining and entertainment establishments.”
Last year, close to 300 people joined in on the fun each week. Bring your lunch or buy lunch from the many vendors at the festival.
A special thanks to our sponsors: Downtown BIZ, Portage Place, Great West Life, Weatherwise Tent Rentals, Audioworks and Energy 106.
