FITNESS, FARMERS & FUN: #FINDITDOWNTOWN ALL SUMMER LONG
Downtown Winnipeg – It’s time to get out of hibernation and into downtown this summer. Once again the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ ensures our downtown comes alive with a full slate of programming every day of the week. With weekly farmers markets, noon-hour concerts and daily fitness in the park, not only will you feel the heat this summer, but the great vibes in the downtown neighbourhood too.
“We are delighted to once again offer our downtown community a farmers’ market and noon-hour entertainment and fitness activities,” says Stefano Grande, Executive Director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “Farmers’ markets help support the local economy and reduce transportation costs and food waste. They help create a unique destination for downtown residents, office workers, students, and tourists. Drawing people out of their offices and into downtown parks and green spaces throughout the day makes our streets and sidewalks come alive and attracts business for downtown stores and restaurants nearby.”
Farmers’ market vendors have trickled in from all across Manitoba, bringing with them fresh produce for the downtown masses, spearheaded by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and taking place in the SHED with support from Manitoba Hydro, Pinnacle, and Metro News.
A hit with the downtown business crowd and residents, Fitness in the Park and Downtown Concert Series have also become destinations and another reason to enjoy the city’s centre on a sunny summer day.
