BIZ Initiative Aims to Bring More People Downtown
Downtown Winnipeg – Find out why more and more chefs and business owners are investing millions of dollars to the growing restaurant industry downtown by participating in the Downtown BIZ’s annual Let’s Do Lunch Downtown event that runs from May 6 to May 31, 2013. Office workers and Winnipeggers will get a chance to try some of downtown’s top restaurants and see firsthand how restaurants are adding to a bustling and vibrant city centre.
Let’s Do Lunch Downtown offers just a little extra incentive to potential customers to get out and explore downtown’s vast variety of restaurants by providing them with a mouth-watering set menu option for the month, and offering the chance to win a downtown restaurant tour worth $500. To enter this contest, visit any of the participating restaurants and leave a business card or ask for a ballot.
“Business owners are investing in our restaurant industry because they understand that with more than 70,000 office workers, 16,000 residents, and over 35,000 students – there’s an undeniable market,” said Stefano Grande, Executive Director of the Downtown BIZ. “We encourage people to come downtown and to discover the many one-of-kind restaurant destinations located right here at the heart of our city.”
People can also watch for the vintage Winnipeg Trolley downtown to catch a free ride to their dining destination of choice, or book it for a group by emailing
Participating restaurants appeal to a range of tastes: Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar, La Bamba, Sydney’s, Rudy’s Eat & Drink, the Pony Corral, The Keg Steakhouse and Bar, the Current, and the Met.
About Let’s Do Lunch
Let’s Do Lunch Downtown was created to assist downtown restaurateurs by increasing patronage during lunch hours. The program also helps us showcase the enormous variety of fabulous restaurants located in the heart of our city. The program offers participants both city-wide promotional coverage as well as a targeted approach to downtown’s community through social media and the BIZ marketing machine, Downtown Peggy.
