June 4, 2024, Treaty No.1 Territory, Winnipeg, MB – Downtown Winnipeg BIZ is excited to kick off its summer programming with five signature downtown events celebrating the diverse sounds, sights and tastes of the season! Downtown Sounds Concert Series, Downtown Winnipeg Summer Farmers’ Market, Dog Days of Summer Market, Downtown Family Movie Nights, and Chinatown & Dim Sum Tours offer unique and fun experiences for downtown residents, workers and visitors alike.
“From music to movies, to food and four-legged furry friends, our summer lineup of events offers something for everyone to enjoy” says Olivia Billson, Director of Marketing, Engagement and Communications for Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “Adding to the vibrancy of our downtown neighbourhood, these events also help to support a downtown full of people that drives economic activity.”
The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s Q1 Snapshot report showed downtown visitation trended upwards, surpassing Q1 2023 in every way. The data collected for the first three weeks of May shows visitation continues to increase.
“This is an exciting time for our city as our downtown neighbourhood continues to transform,” says Billson. “Enjoying downtown this summer is a great way to celebrate Winnipeg’s 150th birthday! We look forward to continuing to work with our partners and BIZ members to build on the positive momentum and showcase the best that downtown has to offer.”
The 2024 summer lineup of events includes expanded offerings and prime locations for folks to enjoy the sounds, sights and tastes of the season.
