DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO CLEAN CITY’S CORE FOR 13th ANNUAL EARTH DAY CLEAN-UP
Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ will once again host the Downtown Earth Day Clean-up on Monday, April 23, 2018. The annual event which is part of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s overall efforts to clean the area is expected to bring out over 200 business and community members to help clean the downtown streets. Over the past twelve years, the Clean-up has brought out over 4,000 volunteers who have collected over 25,000 pounds of garbage. This year the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ hopes to collect even more to reach a new downtown milestone.
“Over the last few years we have seen a significant improvement in downtown cleanliness, thanks to our Enviro-Team and the incredible support of the community,” says Stefano Grande, CEO of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “The everyday front line efforts of our Enviro-Team are something I am very proud of. Last year the Team was able to pick 44,562 pails of litter all by hand! I invite everyone to do their part and join them in working towards a more vibrant and healthy downtown.”
Business workers, residents and anyone interested are all invited to join the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s Enviro-Team and staff to pick up litter, and take part in making a livelier downtown.
A Tim Hortons coffee truck will be providing samples in the morning and in the afternoon, participants will also get the chance to win great prizes for best team name, best team outfit and most pounds of litter collected. In addition, Energy 106 FM will be onsite with their street team to give away even more prizes!
