CRUZ IN DOWNTOWN

Date: Saturday, August 7, 2010 – Beginning with the Parade at 11 am

Presented by: Piston Ring Service
Master of Ceremonies: Bob Chubala

The Event:
On Saturday, August 7, our title sponsor Piston Ring Service will again host the 11th Annual

“Cruz In Downtown” with the support of the City of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Parking Authority, the

Downtown Winnipeg BIZ & the downtown merchants.

Mechanics:
In order to stage an event of this size, it will be necessary to close the following streets:
Vaughan to Carlton Street
Graham Avenue to Broadway

The event begins with a parade of classic & special interest vehicles departing from Canad Inns Stadium at 11 am. This year’s official parade marshal is Peter Ginakes of the Pony Corral Restaurants & Bar. The parade will head over the Portage Ave. overpass, east down Portage Ave. & make its way to St. Mary Ave. where it will terminate with the vehicles parking along both sides of the closed streets.

Highlights:
Once at the site, participants & spectators alike will be joining in a festival atmosphere with live entertainment.

The featured Car Club this year is D.R.A.M. ( Drag Racing Association of Manitoba). There will be a variety of years of cars on display.

Bring out the family to the FREE Kids Zone sponsored by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ & hosted by KERRI SALKI OF 102.3 CLEAR FM. Enjoy the petting zoo, inflatable rides, carnival games & face & hair painting.

For the bigger kids, we have a display of bigger toys. On display will be Kenny Lang’s 1953 Pro-Modified Corvette& hundreds of beautiful vehicles from Manitoba, across Canada & the United States.

The extremely popular burnout competition returns on York Ave & Edmonton St. The spectators can safely see & feel the power produced by some of the of the classic & late model cars in a safe & controlled environment. The entry fee as of August 7th, 2010, is $20. Check out the 4 x 4 Tug – O – War hosted by Willie & BUBBA of 92 CITI FM.

“Cruz In Downtown” participants may pre-register at a cost of $10.00 on Sunday nights at the Pony Corral Restaurant at 400 Wilton & Grant Ave. and at all Piston Ring locations, while supplies last. For show information, please contact John or Beverly Dyck at 889-7822.

All net proceeds from “Cruz In Downtown” will be donated to The Rainbow Society…….a child……a wish……a dream come true. DREAMS CAN COME TRUE! We raised $8,000 last year, and a boy and his family were able to visit the Indianapolis Zoo, to fulfill the dream of the boy, who has severe hemophilia, to see dolphins.

Cruz In Downtown organizers, sponsors & many volunteers will continue to build on this event, to promote it as both a tourist destination & to reacquaint Manitobans of all ages with downtown Winnipeg.
