The Automobile Injury Compensation Appeal Commission (AICAC) is an independent tribunal that hears appeals from individuals who disagree with an Internal Review Decision made by the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation (MPIC) regarding their entitlements to benefits under the no-fault Personal Injury Protection Plan (PIPP). AICAC is established by the Manitoba Government and operates independently from MPIC. It is responsible for reviewing decisions made by MPIC and providing a final decision on appeal. The commission allows individuals to appeal decisions made by MPIC within 90 days of receiving the decision, and it can be represented by a Claimant Adviser Office, which is an advocacy office independent from MPIC and AICAC. The commission's decisions are binding on both the appellant and MPIC, and either party may appeal to the Court of Appeal within 30 days of receiving the decision.
