$540 to Siloam!

Monday, May 17, 2010
WINNIPEG, MB—Today, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ challenged Winnipeggers to find the graffiti in downtown. In exchange, the BIZ would donate $20 to Siloam Mission for each call received. In total, the Downtown BIZ will donate a total of $540 after receiving 27 separate graffiti reports today.
The challenge was met with resounding success, with dozens of callers, not just from downtown but all over the city.
The BIZ fielded 9 graffiti calls in or just outside downtown throughout the day, as well as 18 more calling in regards to tags in other parts of the city.
All downtown tags will be cleared within the next 24-hours. The BIZ will also pass along the other locations to the West End BIZ, Exchange District BIZ and the city’s graffiti control department to ensure they are removed as well.
“The public responded incredibly well to this challenge,” says Stefano Grande, Downtown BIZ executive director. “We have truly achieved our goal of banding together with the community to make downtown cleaner today.”
The BIZ will donate $20 for every call received today, and not just for those regarding downtown.
“Numerous callers said they were pleased to see the money going to such a worthy cause,” adds Grande. “Some even asked to supplement the BIZ’s donation with their own!”
