On Friday, April 22 local businesses and downtown community members came together for the 11th straight year to clean up our downtown streets. The 2016 Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Earth Day Clean-up, in honour of National Earth Day, marks new milestones and celebrates over 3,450 volunteers collecting over 18,000 lbs. in the past ten years.
Indigenous Languages Celebrated: Downtown Business & City Recreation Centres Install Decals with Message of Welcome
In an effort to create a greater sense of place and a feeling of welcome, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s Aboriginal Peoples’ Advisory Committee launched a new initiative today that will invite downtown businesses to install decals that express a feeling of welcome and inclusion, represented in Indigenous languages: Ojibwe, Cree, Dene, Michif, Dakota, and Inuktitut.
11th Annual Earth Day Clean-Up Marks Milestones: Over 2,800 Volunteers Collected Over 13,000 lbs. Of Litter From Downtown Streets in Past 10 Years
For the 11th year in a row, over 500 business and community members will come out and clean together for the Downtown BIZ Earth Day Clean-up, in honour of National Earth Day on Friday April 22.
Downtown Winnipeg BIZ is launching a brand new Aboriginal Artwalk project this summer, and are looking for 10 Aboriginal Artists interested in having artwork on display in downtown storefronts.
