11TH ANNUAL EARTH DAY CLEAN-UP MARKS MILESTONES: OVER 2,800 VOLUNTEERS COLLECTED OVER 13,000 LBS. OF LITTER FROM DOWNTOWN STREETS IN PAST TEN YEARS
Downtown Winnipeg – For the 11th year in a row, over 500 business and community members will come out and clean together for the Downtown BIZ Earth Day Clean-up, in honour of National Earth Day on Friday April 22. Over the past ten years, the Clean-up has brought out over 2,800 volunteers and collected over 13,000 lbs. of litter from our downtown streets.
Local celebrity participants, downtown business workers, residents and anyone interested are all invited to join the BIZ’s Metro Enviro-Team and staff to pick up litter and make our downtown streets more clean and vibrant.
“I’m overwhelmed by the amount of community support we have received for the Earth Day Clean-up over the past ten years,” says Stefano Grande, Executive Director at the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “Our Metro Enviro-Team is on the front lines everyday working to keep our downtown ‘clean and green’, and we’re beyond thrilled that the community has responded, and continues to respond so positively. It’s so important that we’re all working together towards a healthy, vibrant downtown neighbourhood.”
