Once again, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ invites everyone to participate in the annual Canada Day Living Flag event on Canada Day, July 1st. For the fifth-year anniversary of this annual event, and 50th anniversary of the Canadian flag itself, the photo will be set to the backdrop of Shaw Park, home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes, featuring Winnipeg’s signature skyline in the background.
Since the inaugural event in 2011, over 15,000 Winnipeggers have assembled downtown dressed in red and white patriotic attire, to create a living Canadian flag. Attracting young and old, Canadians of every heritage, the event’s new location at the ballpark offers a great kick-off to Canada Day festivities.

Another successful Canada Day Living Flag event in Winnipeg with an estimated 3,500 participants! Thank you to the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedics Service for helping with the flag. Also thank you to our dedicated volunteer base that make the event possible.
Winnipeg’s strong sense of community pride will be forever enshrined in the hearts and minds of Canadians – as the Downtown BIZ’s Canada Day Living Flag photo was selected by Canada Post to be part of the Canadian Pride series that was issued January 14, 2013.
