FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ON YOUR MARK, GET JETS, GO!
What Downtown Businesses Are Doing to Attract Visits to the City’s Centre
Downtown Winnipeg – A year ago, we welcomed the Winnipeg Jets back home – with game days that attracted more than 15,000 fans who packed sidewalks, restaurants, bars and evening entertainment venues. With the recent end to the NHL lockout, downtown businesses are eager to provide fans with a unique experience in the heart of our city.
Throw on your jersey and grab a seat at the many pubs and restaurants that all have the hockey channel – like the newly renovated Metropolitan Theatre that boasts a 35×26 foot video screen. Enjoy delicious eats before and after the game at a plethora of downtown restaurants. For more information, visit www.downtownpeggy.com/gojetsgo.
Fans who make their way to the MTS Centre throughout downtown skywalks on game days will be entertained by buskers, artists, and musicians from all genres. People will also get a chance to win great prizes at the ‘Shoot for Loot’ competition at Portage Place Shopping Centre. ‘Shoot for Loot’ will put participants’ hockey abilities to the test on: January 19; February 7 and 28; March 14 and 21; and April 11, 18 and 25. “We could not be more excited for the Jets’ return this year,” said Stefano Grande, Executive Director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “Fans help boost the downtown economy and add to the growing spirit of our city.”
Special thanks to ‘Shoot for Loot’ partners: Portage Place Shopping Centre and Energy 106.
