LOCAL CELEBRITIES TO JOIN FORCES WITH 300+ COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO CLEAN UP DOWNTOWN: APRIL 22

Downtown Winnipeg – Over 300 business and community members will hit the streets of downtown Winnipeg on April 22nd for the Downtown BIZ’s 9th annual Earth Day Clean-up, in honour of National Earth Day. Joining them is an all-star roster of local celebrities, including:

  • Current and alumni Winnipeg Blue Bombers
  • Jodi Moskal, Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, Chair
  • Chrissy Troy, 103.1 Virgin Radio, Host
  • Ace Burpee, 103.1 Virgin Radio, Host

Downtown business workers, residents and anyone interested are invited to join these local celebrity participants, the BIZ’s Metro Enviro-Team and staff to pick up litter, making our downtown streets more clean and vibrant.

“A clean and green downtown is vital for any healthy city,” says Stefano Grande, Executive Director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “This event connects business people with our Metro Enviro-Team so they can see firsthand the important work they do, and how valuable it is to have a downtown that is spotless, clean and inviting.”

What: Downtown BIZ Earth Day Clean-up

When/Where: Tuesday, April 22, 2014

9:00-11:30AM North Downtown: Thunderbird House, 715 Main Street

2:00-4:30PM South Downtown: Millennium Library Park, 251 Donald Street

Volunteers will receive free coffee and donuts from Tim Hortons, fun and colorful bandanas and cleaning supplies. Participants will also have the chance to win 1 of 2 bikes and gift cards courtesy of Tim Hortons. Keeping with the green theme, the first 150 participants at each location will also receive a free Tim Hortons travel mug, in addition to 150 plantable trees. Over 240 Goldeyes tickets will also be handed out! Organizations and businesses like University of Winnipeg, Cargill, and The Fairmont Winnipeg have already joined the cause and have encouraged their staff and coworkers to help clean the downtown.
