FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DOWNTOWN’S BIGGEST STREET PARTY RETURNS SEPTEMBER 7-9
Winnipeg, Manitoba – Winnipeggers will once again end the summer with Downtown’s biggest street party as ManyFest returns with food and fun for all ages. The 8th Annual Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries ManyFest will animate Broadway and Memorial from September 7-9 with an energetic atmosphere of food, entertainment, arts, health and happiness to draw people into the heart of the city.
“ManyFest is truly a community festival bringing people together, downtown, from all corners of the city to enjoy Broadway, its rich history and a weekend filled with musicians, artisans, and fun activities,” says Stefano Grande, Chief Executive Officer of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.
The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ has contracted True North Sports + Entertainment and Smith Events, the team behind the planning and execution of the Whiteout Street Parties, to assist with planning and running ManyFest. This year’s event continues to build on the success of seven years of ManyFest, with many exciting activities rounding out the 2018 ManyFest experience.
The 2018 line-up of food trucks in the Food Truck Wars is the biggest it has ever been with over 40 food trucks. The Food Truck Wars promises to once again be a delight for taste buds as the trucks compete for Best Presentation, Best Bang for Your Buck, Most Original and People’s Choice. Presented by Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba, the first food truck festival of its kind in the city features a huge variety that lines both sides of an entire block of Memorial from Broadway to York. A full list of this year’s food trucks is available at www.manyfest.ca.
Third + Bird, known for hosting Winnipeg’s largest urban markets and carefully curated events, will produce the annual Farmers’ and Artisan market at ManyFest. The team behind Third + Bird is going to bring a fantastic selection of local products and artisans in this unique, free outdoor experience.
Festival attendees will enjoy the Lakeside Lounge with Lake of the Woods Brewing Company. Lake of the Woods Brewing Co. will pair perfectly with the tasty selections from Food Truck Wars. This year the majority of the ManyFest site will be licensed, including the Lakeside Lounge, Food Truck Wars and Third + Bird Market areas. This will allow guests to sip, shop and eat their way through the entire festival for the first time in its history!
Sights and sounds for all. Music is always a huge part of ManyFest and this year, guests will enjoy the Winnipeg Folk Fest Stage in the Third + Bird Market. Featuring up and coming artists from its’ Young Performers Program, attendees will have an opportunity to catch the next big thing. Additional entertainment will include multiple DJ’s, The Wind-Ups and a reunion performance from the Boogie Knights Band, plus a CFL Banjo Bowl after party, taking place in the Lakeside Lounge on Saturday evening. Wondershows are bringing the midway that sparkles on Broadway all weekend long. And once again, Movies in the Park return; this year you’ll be able to catch double features on both Friday and Saturday night.
MiniFest Family Zone is full of great activities and adventures for families on Saturday and Sunday of ManyFest. New this year is the Indigenous Learning Circle teepees where both storytelling and traditional games will be featured.
A running tradition. Once again the Running Room’s Winnipeg 10 + 10 Race invites racers of all levels to take part in their Sunday morning race that starts and ends at ManyFest. This year, Friday night will see the addition of the Electric Donkey Run, Winnipeg’s most Fun Run with DJ’s, lights, music and an incredible experience of a lifetime, will bring racers and dancers to five party zones along a 5km route, ending back at the ManyFest site.
MEVAfest, the prairie’s most popular EV festival will be back again this year to showcase dozens of fascinating electric vehicles on the legislative grounds.
