DOWNTOWN WINNIPEG READY TO HOST WINNIPEG WHITEOUT STREET PARTY

Winnipeg, Manitoba – Downtown Winnipeg is ready to host the Winnipeg Jets and all of the Jets fans tonight as Donald Street shuts down and we come together on the streets to cheer on our NHL team at the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party.

The Street Party will take over Donald Street between Portage and Graham for every Jets home game and downtown Winnipeg is ready to host the thousands of fans who are coming both to the game, whether they’re watching in Bell MTS Place or joining in the fun at the Street Party.

Just in time for the first game tonight, downtown streets are cleaner thanks to the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Enviro Team, along with Members of the Siloam Mission M.O.S.T. program, both of whom have been putting in extra time sweeping downtown sidewalks as part of a spring freshen up and preparing downtown for the arrival of our extra guests. Members of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Enviro Team will be working on site at the Street Party litter picking, removing garbage and recycling, re-filling porta potty and wash station supplies, and more as needed to ensure that guests enjoy a clean atmosphere.

This evening, keep your eyes peeled for the orange uniform of the Host Ambassador team members and volunteers. Six Host Ambassadors will be on site at the Street Party and the surrounding streets to serve as friendly greeters to the downtown, provide information to guests, assist with directions and more.

Thirty Downtown Watch ambassadors will be on site patrolling downtown, acting as additional “eyes and ears” for the Winnipeg Police Service and providing SafeWalks for anyone who would like one. The team and volunteers are first aid (CPR-certified) trained, and can offer assistance wherever needed. Easily recognized in their red and black uniforms, Downtown Watch ambassadors have been walking the streets seven days a week, year round, during the day and evening since 1995. Downtown Watch can be reached at 204-958-SAFE (7233).

Lastly, two CHAT (Community Homeless Assistance Team) Outreach patrols will be on site to communicate with individuals who may be in need.

Downtown Winnipeg is ready to celebrate with all of you as we cheer on the Winnipeg Jets in this Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party, hosted by Economic Development Winnipeg and True North Sports & Entertainment.
