At Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, we believe #BusIsBetter. In partnership with Green Action Centre and Winnipeg Transit, we invite you to take part in #BusIsBetter during Commuter Challenge workweek (June 5 – 9)! This annual campaign was created in 2014 to promote transit use to not only downtown workers (especially current car drivers), but workers, commuters and visitors in other areas of the city that are connected with rapid transit – such as the Exchange District, Osborne Village and the West End.
During the week of June 5 to 9, 2017, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ will be having pop-up stations every morning from 7:30 – 9:00am at five major bus stops throughout the downtown. We will be giving away free coffee, #BusIsBetter promotional items, and other goodies as our way of saying “thanks for taking the bus”. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram to find out where we’ll be.
New this year, we invited current downtown car commuters to sign up for a free Max 5 weekday transit pass to use during the Commuter Challenge workweek with the hope that if they try transit, they might become more comfortable using transit regularly.
Through #BusIsBetter, we want to ensure transit use is a positive experience for first time users; raise awareness and encourage ridership of Winnipeg’s transit and rapid transit services, particularly with workers, commuters and visitors already coming downtown by car; and raise awareness of the importance of transit-oriented development in and around downtown Winnipeg, as it relates to the utilization of transit services within the city.
