Downtown BIZ Challenges 5,000 Winnipeggers to Assemble into Winnipeg’s 2nd Annual Canada Day Living Flag
The Downtown BIZ’s free Out to Lunch summer concert series kicked off last week and continues every week this summer on Wednesdays from 12-1pm until August 31. Investors Group presents these concerts for the downtown community to enjoy at a variety of downtown locations. From rock to country to jazz, there’s something for everyone!
An interactive and participatory tour and dialogue of our downtown on June 18, 2012 gave provincial MLAs a reenergized view of the inner workings of the city centre and the Downtown BIZ. During this tour, the BIZ had an opportunity to engage and get input from MLAs and Ministers about their vision for our downtown, in relation to the needs of their neighbourhood stakeholders of whom they represent.
Downtown Winnipeg is heating up this summer, especially on Portage Avenue, our city’s most iconic thoroughfare, that will see numerous fun activities fill the street – starting with the Downtown BIZ’s annual Portage Avenue Alive Busk Off, scheduled Thursday, June 14th from 11am to 2pm – where artisans/musicians compete for cash prizes, winners selected by public vote at BIZ kiosks located along the avenue.
This past weekend, Pride festival-goers and downtown dwellers were delighted to see 102 beautifully arranged flower baskets installed along Portage Avenue, one of Winnipeg’s most iconic thoroughfares.
