Over 150 young people from all over Winnipeg are now equipped with essential tools needed to open up a business downtown, having learned a lesson or two at the Downtown BIZ’s ‘Young Entrepreneurs Take Downtown’ event on April 25, presented by Royal Bank of Canada.

50 New Bike Racks

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and Exchange District BIZ were excited to start installing 50 elegant new bicycle racks last week. Answering requests from the public and BIZ members, 20 bicycle racks are being installed in the Exchange District and 30 bicycle racks in the Downtown BIZ area by OB1 Construction.

Investing In Street Culture

Downtown development agency CentreVenture plans to spend $8.3 million on new sidewalks, lighting and decor around the MTS Centre over the next two years by tapping into property taxes from a hotel-and-office complex under construction across the street.

Downtown Jewel Prepares to Shine

ONE of the crown jewels in the efforts to revitalize Winnipeg’s downtown had its coming-out party today.

A host of local dignitaries, including Premier Greg Selinger and Mayor Sam Katz, were on hand this morning for the grand opening of the redeveloped Avenue Building at 265 Portage Ave.
